This is the post I was promising you all. I made these last year for the kiddos and they loved them, so this year I decided to include the kids. We had a fun Sunday afternoon making these.
First, make yourself a batch of white cupcakes. Make sure you don't over fill the cupcake papers/cups, only do about 1/2 - 2/3ds full. The ideal cupcake would be just slightly rounded on top.
Once the cupcakes are cool, assemble your tools. You will need:
1 bag of large marshmallows
1 box of Junior Mints candies
1 small bag of Slivered Almonds
1 large can of white frosting-not whipped. you need a stiff frosting. I used whipped, and though it turned out fine, a regular kind would have been much better.
First take the marshmallows and cut them in half width-wise, make sure you have enough halves-one for each cupcake. Then gently pull away a small portion of the baking cup, enough so so you can fit the marshmallow against the cupcake. Remember- JUST A LITTLE BIT. Then place the marshmallow, sticky side, against the cupcake. This forms your "chin". It's important to only pull a small bit of the paper away, because you need the form to hold the marshmallow in.
Now that you've mastered the art of chin-making, lol, ice the cupcake. Make sure you spread icing over the top of the marshmallow too. Then give your skeleton two junior mints eyes, and do two rows of slivered almond teeth.
Here is what your finished product should look like, Enjoy!!!
And here is what it should NOT look like! LOL I did say the kids had fun, right?
