Tonight I be makin' Gentleman o' fortune Stew fer dinner, cooked in th' crock pot. `Tis a cold tide, an' a perfect meal t' warm yer bones.
Pirate Stew
3/4 cup sliced onion
1lb ground beef
3 cups diced peeled potatoes
1/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 cup diced celery
1 cups canned kidney beans, drained
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1. Brown onions an' poop deck beef, drain
2. Layer ingredients in crock pot in th' order gi'en
3. Cover. cook on low fer 6 hours, or until potatoes an' rice be cooked
Variation:
Add a laywer o' 2 cups sliced carrots between potatoes an' celery

Ooh, this sounds so good! And my kids love to be pirates. I think I'll make this soon and pull out their pirate hats for them to wear while we eat.
How much potatoes does this call for? I don't see potatoes on the list of ingredients.
